Reading: The Scientific Method and Replicability

The Scientific Method and Replicability

Estimated time to complete: 5–15 minutes

Reflection: Why do we need Replicability?

Reflect on the following question(s) before moving on:

  1. Replicability is important for knowing the impacts of changes to data and or code on the results of a prior experiment or project.
  2. Is it even important to know and understand the semantic difference between reproducibility and replicability? Why or why not?
  3. If you fail to replicate the results of an experiment from another research group, how would you attempt to reconcile the reasons behind it?
